Dear District 68,
I don't take defamation lightly, and neither should you.
By now, you may have received a text from an entity calling itself “Concerned Citizens of House District 68” slandering my family and me. Through my research, I have found no registered group or organization by that name associated with the text communication you received. Look carefully at the AI-manufactured picture; the sender has dated the transactions from 2024. We are in the year 2026.
Secondly, they want you to question my campaign finance reports. And you should. You should review every candidate’s financial reports, including my opponents'.

Every contribution is public, legal, and fully reported. Several weeks ago, Transparency USA published incorrect information about my campaign contributions after mixing up my campaign account with a State Senator's.
We found this out when a defamatory post was made on social media using this incorrect information. We reached out to Transparencyusa.org by email, and they acknowledged their mistake, apologized, and corrected their errors immediately, as you can see in the emails attached to the bottom of this statement.
My family decided early on to self-fund our campaign as much as possible to take the burden off constituents, understanding that times are tough for so many people right now. Stating that support from people who love and believe in me, including our family’s contributions, means I'm somehow "controlled" by outside interests is an insult to your intelligence, slander, and, as defined by law, defamation.
I'm a first-time candidate, a long-time healthcare advocate, and someone tired of seeing the same empty promises and lies from career politicians. I'm running to fight for things like better health outcomes, affordable utilities, protecting our environment, and transparent leadership, not corporate backrooms.
My opponent wants to distract you with these attacks because they don't want to debate the issues that actually matter.
Let's keep this race about truth, transparency, accountability, and the future of our district, not lies and smears.

Mark Baker's False Endorsement During Campaign

Courtney Heard Statement
Hello District 68,
Yesterday, I was informed that my opponent, Mark Baker, allegedly sent text messages to many of you stating that he had the support of three former candidates, including Courtney Heard and Jonathan Bonner.
The Heard and Bonner campaigns confirmed that this was not only false, but that their images had been used without their consent.
Last week, I sent approximately 7000 mailers, seen here, which were comparison cards of Mark and me, in which I asked you a very important question: Can you trust Mark Baker?
Mark’s text message demonstrates why it was so important for me to inform you of Mark’s questionable judgment and leadership: being investigated for fraud by South Fulton, allegedly threatening a citizen, and doing whatever it takes to get a title.
Mark also falsely stated in his text message that I have lived here for two years. We moved to Georgia in 2023. I have always been transparent about my life and work, as you can see in the detailed timeline in the About section of my website. My journey into politics began 16 years ago with me overcoming the mental and physical effects of a near-fatal birth trauma, and has always been rooted in the belief that policy should be shaped by our lived experiences, holding policymakers accountable, and always telling the truth.
That transparency, in particular about inadequate healthcare in the United States, led me to co-write a statewide healthcare bill in Massachusetts that was signed into law.
But to give you a little more background, I am not from Massachusetts. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Every family member of mine on my maternal side was born on a sharecropping farm in North Carolina. I have a deep understanding of the agricultural south and the complicated layers of race, class and politics. I come from a long line of fighters. As your next State Representative, I am ready day one and will fight for you.
This is not MY campaign, this is OUR Campaign. Early voting has started this week. Now, let’s get out to vote, claim our victory and get to work. YOU are ready for a stronger, healthier Georgia and I am going to do everything I can to make sure you get it because the time is now. And you deserve it.
